Nestled on Mountain Boulevard in Oakland, Highwire Coffee Roasters has made a name for itself as a standout coffee shop known for its dedication to quality and flavor. Patrons rave about the exceptional offerings, which include a well-crafted cappuccino and an impressive cortado—deemed one of the best by customers like Paul Adams. The café’s minimalist ambiance prioritizes the art of coffee, as noted by Melinda, who claims it delivers the best coffee in the Bay Area. Seasonal drinks, such as the Allspice Latte and Spiced Cruel Palmer, showcase the shop’s creativity, while the matcha latte is served at a perfect temperature, ensuring a delightful experience. The handmade espresso ignites enthusiasm among coffee enthusiasts, though timing can vary during busy periods, as mentioned by Vassil Mladjov. While the intimate setting limits lingering, visitors appreciate the cleanliness and courteous staff. It's here that the committed craftsmanship of Highwire Coffee Roasters shines brightly, turning a simple coffee run into a memorable ritual. Those visiting should be prepared for an unforgettable taste sensation that perfectly balances tradition and innovation, making it a must-visit for both local residents and travelers alike.

Best coffee in the bay. This shop is tiny and not meant to stay at for a while but the coffee is top tier and everything is clean.

Gave you a 5 because the coffee and service were fine BUT, just for the future if you're out of cold cup lids again. When you put a cold drink in a hot cup, you always have to go one size up (4oz) to compensate for the ice. Cold cups already do this inherently, whereas hot are precisely sized.

About as good a Cortado as I’ve had as this place knows what one actually is. And the serving temperature was spot on, something too many places haven’t figured out. Oh yeah and the flavor profile was delicious too. So good I brought a bag of beans to take back to NYC with me.

This is located where the Starbucks used to be. Starbucks is now down the hill on the opposite side of the street. This place has a delicious savory muffin with a boiled egg inside. They served my matcha latte at the perfect drinkable temperature. Courteous staff. Because it’s a tiny space, they don’t allow you to eat inside (COVID restrictions)

Good espresso and nice service. It took a bit longer to get it, but the espresso was excellent and it was handmade by the barista. At 3.95 it’s a bit expensive if you ask me, but they did put it in a glass cup .

This is where I get my beans everytime I am in town. Very consistent sweet shots.

Great little shop, delicious coffee. Bright windows to stand watch passers by. Limited seating. Don’t forget a Mochi muffin!

Have tried Peet’s, Starbucks, Blue bottle, cafe Santana, modern coffee & souvenir coffee (all either chains or third waves local to the east bay). This is consistently one of the best latte or other espresso drinks around. (Although modern & souvenir are right up there too. Plus blue bottles mocha — that stuff is *chefs kiss*)
